A St. Catharines woman decision to go public with the discovery of over the counter pills in her son's Halloween trick or treat bag, prompted Niagara Regional Police to release an advisory to parents.

Sarah Stevens found three packets of pills among her son's candy when she was going through his bag of treats.

She contacted police who issued an advisory reminding parents to always check their child's candy before allowing them to dig in.
