Female arrested for robbery at variety store in Niagara Falls

Police have arrested a 21-year-old Niagara Falls woman following an investigation into a September 10th robbery at the R&D Variety Store on Culp Street in the honeymoon city.

Shauna Marie Roberts of Niagara Falls was arrested by detectives yesterday and was charged with robbery.

Roberts was held in custody and appeared in a St. Catharines court this morning.

The original investigation indicated a female had entered the store with a butcher knife demanding money.

Roberts tried to get into the cash register but ended up in a violent fight with the store owner which resulted in her fleeing the store empty handed.

The store owner who fought with her was not injured.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to give them a call or just call Crime Stoppers.
