NRP release photos from bank robbery in Welland

Niagara Regional Police have released photos that may help catch a man who attempted to rob a bank in Welland on Friday, December 21st.

A man walked into the Caisse Populaire on Empire Street armed with a handgun, walked up to a teller and demanded cash.

A customer, police are calling "brave" challenged the suspect and after a short struggle the suspect ran from the bank without obtaining any money. 

The customer was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a white man, medium build, 5’10” to 6’1” wearing a grey hooded sweater with the hood cinched concealing his face, blue jeans.

Police at the scene had identified a unique piece of clothing that may be linked to the robbery.

The piece of clothing is described as an extra large "AMP Energy Dale Earnhardt Jr. Nascar" jacket.

The jacket sleeves are covered with smaller sponsor logo’s.

The jacket itself is primarily Black and Green with white trim.

The "Amp" logo is also on the back of the jacket.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the NRP or call CrimeStoppers.
