Parts of Niagara can expect to deal with high winds today

Environment Canada Meteorologist Mark Schuster says the hardest hit areas will be the closest to the Lake Erie Shore line, Fort Erie in particular can expect gusts up to 80 km/h.

Schuster says further North in St. Catharines wind gusts will be closer to 60 to 70km/h

We'll be dealing with wind for most of the day according to Schuster.

There's no wind warning in effect, since Schuster says the criteria is gusts over 90 km/h.

There is, however, a special weather statement in effect and high wind warnings on the Garden City and Burlington Skyways.
