There may be a chance public high school students could see a return of extra curricular activities.
Hirad Zafari, a Grade 12 student and the president of the Ontario Student Trustees Association emerged from a meeting yesterday with the head of the high school teacher's union, cautiously optimistic extra curriculars will return this semester.
And Zafari says if teachers won't oversee after school sports and clubs, then he would like boards to follow Ottawa's example and let parents and community members step in to do the volunteer work.
Education Minister Laurel Broten agrees telling the Toronto Star her ministry is looking at boards where parent involvement has been successful.
Both elementary and secondary public teacher's unions meet with their local executives this week to discuss their next plan of action in the ongoing labour battle with the province.
