Falls fighting to keep maternity services
Niagara Falls continue to fight against moving maternity services from the Honeymoon city to the new St. Catharines hospital.
Councillor Wayne Gates says the move, slated to happen March 24th when the new hospital opens, is not about good health care.
Gates wants to know who is supporting the decision to move maternity services when it's not the community, politicians or doctors.
There is a recommendation in play from Niagara Health System Supervisor Kevin Smith that a new South Niagara hospital be built, but Gates says it makes no sense to move the services now when we don't know where or when it will be built.
Gates says Mayor Jim Diodati will be sitting down with Smith to express his concerns again.
