Man struck and killed by car in St.Catharines Saturday night

A man has been struck and killed by a car in St.Catharines.

The 59 year old was walking near the entrance to the on ramp for the QEW at Dunkirk Road when he was hit at 8 o'clock Saturday night.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say he was struck by a Pontiac Grand Am being driven by a 35 year old St. Catharines man.

The Pontiac was travelling eastbound, attempting to enter onto the QEW from Dunkirk Road when the pedestrian was struck.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s - Collision Reconstruction Unit.
