Horse rescue in Fort Erie
It took the help of neighbours and the Fort Erie Fire Department, but Barney the horse is safe and sound this morning.
Fire Chief Randy Reichelt tells CKTB they were called in around 5pm Monday night to help get the 1600 lb beast out of some wet mud at a Fort Erie farm.
When they arrived, Reichelt says the 19 year old horse was one his side with his owners trying to entice him to eat so he'd get up and move.
That's when a neighbour came along and lent the use of his truck.
Half an hour later, Barney was up and walking around.
Reichelt says when they left Barney seemed to be in good sprits.
