LCHS dispute escalates to death threats

1/15/2013

The tension between supporters of a no-kill movement in St. Catharines and the Lincoln County Humane Society has escalated to death threats.

Executive Director LCHS Kevin Strooband tells CKTB they're working to identify the threat and will be getting police involved.

The LCHS has come under fire in recent months over board transparency and membership applications in addition to calls for a no-kill policy at the shelter.

No Kill St. Catharines Spokesperson Bill LaFeuvre says they've been waiting for weeks to find out where the meeting will be held, and are just now finding out it will be at the Fourth Avenue shelter.

Strooband says they are having the meeting at the shelter because that is where they do business.

He adds they have tried having meetings at other locations, including the St. Catharines Kiwanis Centre, but they haven't worked out.

The LCHS meeting is scheduled for Wednesday January 16th at 6:30pm at the Lincoln County Humane Society on Fourth Avenue.
