Horror in Stittsville

1/15/2013

Ottawa police are expressing their sympathies to the family of three people killed in what they're describing as a ``horrific'' double-murder suicide.

The deaths of 10-year-old Jon Alexander Corchis, six-year-old Katheryn Elizabeth Corchis and 40-year-old Alison Constance Easton have rocked the sleepy bedroom community of Stittsville.

Ottawa police Inspector John Maxwell says the children's father is devastated and police are trying to help him ``make it through this.''

He says the case has also taken its toll on the firefighters and emergency crew members who were the first people on the scene, noting many of them have families.

He calls it ``everybody's worst nightmare because it's so sad.''

The cause of death hasn't been released.

Maxwell says police are speaking to friends, family and neighbours to find out anything they can about what might have caused the tragedy.

He says no domestic disturbances had been reported at the home before.
