The Walker Family YMCA getting cash from the federal government for some improvements to the building.

YMCA Niagara CEO Janet St. Amand says the $400 000 will go towards a number of projects, including replacing the HVAC system and creating a more welcoming environment in the wellness centre.

St. Catharines MP Rick Dykstra at the YMCA Wednesday morning to make the announcement.

He says projects like this will create jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our community.

The funding comes from the Government of Canada's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.
