Vertis Protest

1/24/2013

Former Vertis workers outside the empty plant Thursday morning, raising their voices in protest.

Employees at Vertis Communications in Stevensville were called into a meeting January 16th and told the plant was closing immediately.

Former Employee Mark says they will be getting vacation and personal pay, but they have to apply to the bankruptcy court in the US for any severance and termination pay.

He says they are trying to get the word out about that injustice, as well as slow down trucks trying to remove product from the plant.

Mark says it's likely too late for them, but they want the laws to be changed so future employees aren't put in the same position.

The closure impacted an estimated 100 jobs.

Another, larger, protest is expected outside the plant again on Friday.
