Great news for St. Catharines coming out Mayor Brian McMullan's State of the City address Friday.
The mayor says he just got word from the province that will allow the Shickluna Hydro Generating Station project on 12 Mile Creek to finally move forward.
It's a project that would generate tens of millions of dollars of revenue for the city not based on taxes, which McMullan feels will be welcomed by residents.
Based on the information McMullan received this week, he's hoping construction can start later this year.
McMullan delivered his annual State of the City address Friday afternoon at the Holiday Inn Suites Parkway Conference Centre in St. Catharines.
