Hamilton officials have fired 29 city employees for what they call ``inappropriate behaviour'' including neglect of duties, time theft and breach of trust.
The city says another two employees have been suspended for 30 days without pay.
A news release announcing the decision does not elaborate on the accusations against the employees, but says the investigation continues.
City manager Chris Murray says the breach is ``serious'' and requires ``immediate and significant action.''
The city's manager of public works, meanwhile, says the group's conduct is ``very disappointing'' but doesn't reflect on other city staff.
Gerry Davis says the department is comprised of ``dedicated and faithful employees who take pride in the work they do.''
