Niagara Falls Mayor weighs in on Maid of the Mist
The mayor of Niagara Falls, New York challenging criticisms the state wasn't open to accepting more money for a tour boat contract in the lower Niagara River.
Hornblower Cruises reportedly offered $100 million more than Maid of the Mist to run the boats, but say the state didn't want to hear the offer.
Mayor Paul Dyster says the state simply decided to stay with the current operator with about $100 million of additional money in the deal.
Dyster says the Glynn family are good corporate citizens and not viewed as corporate pirates.
Hornblower obtained the tour boat contract on the Canadian side following the province ending its no-bid lease with Maid of the Mist and opened the contract up to public bidding.
