A plan to eliminate food packaging standard sizing has Welland's MP voicing his concerns.
Malcolm Allen says it appears to be a change for the sake of change with no impact analysis done.
He worries the change will mean factories will have to retool their machinery and production to adapt, and he worries it's a short-sighted move to ship food packaging jobs to the United States.
Allen the impact would start with the processors then on to farmers if they have no one to sell to.
He says there are approximately 160 food and beverage processors in Niagara alone.
