Its not often an entire mall is evacuated but that's what happened yesterday at Welland's Seaway Mall.

Just after four yesterday as many as 300 people were ushered out of the shopping centre for about a half an hour after a fire alarm went off at the malls movie theatre.

Fire crews could smell smoke, but couldn't find the source, so decided to evacuate the mall as a precaution.

They believe it was work being done on a ventilation system that may have triggered the alarm.

There were no injuries and everyone returned to their shopping safe and sound.
