St. Catharines school makes top 20 list of most improved in Ontario
According to the Fraser Institute's annual school rankings, Edith Cavel made the list of schools showing significant improvement in academic performance over the last five years.
Ten of the top 20 are public schools where parental income is below average and at eight of those schools special needs students account for more than 30 per cent of enrolment.
In all, 167 schools showed improvement with 64 of them from the Greater Toronto Area.
The report card rates over 27 hundred public, catholic and francophone elementary schools.
The results are based on nine academic indicators using data from the annual province wide tests of writing, reading and mathematics administered by the Ontario government's Education Quality and Accountability Office.
