The city of St. Catharines cracking down on landlords who fail to maintain fire alarms in rental units.

A landlord who owns a rental unit at 20 Lafayette Drive has been fined 25 hundred dollars after pleading guilty to two charges of failing to maintain smoke alarms.

Another landlord pleaded guilty earlier this month to four counts of failing to maintain smoke alarms in operating condition and was fined four thousand dollars
