OSSTF says not all teachers will resume extra curriculars

2/25/2013

The union representing public high-school teachers says not all teachers will be resuming extracurricular activities.

Ken Coran, president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation, says about 60 per cent are waiting for concrete actions from the province.

The union agreed on Friday to ``suspend political action'' but didn't guarantee things would immediately return to normal in the province's high schools.

Coran told a news conference today that the union recommended teachers return to extracurricular activities after new Premier Kathleen Wynne signalled a real willingness to change the bargaining
process.

But he says many teachers are still angry about having contracts imposed on them in January and some may never resume after-school activities.
