Public elementary teachers won't resume extra curriculars

3/1/2013

Education Minister Liz Sandals says the Liberal government is pleased the union representing public elementary teachers wants to keep talking.

But Sandals says she's disappointed that the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario has decided not to resume supervising extracurricular activities.

The union says it won't be asking its 76 thousand members to resume voluntary activities, like sports teams and clubs.

Union president Sam Hammond says it will take ``real actions'' from Premier Kathleen Wynne's government to regain the confidence of teachers.
