The Niagara Region admits it made an error when it put out the 2012 expenses report, resulting in a decrease in the totals for many of the region's councillors.
The region's financial department chalked up the mistake to Microsoft Excel issue, which duplicated the councillor's conference expenses twice.
The amended report, emailed to CKTB News, shows West Lincoln mayor Doug Joyner, who topped the list with over $20, 000 in expenses, drop to just over $15, 500. Niagara Falls mayor Jim Diodati, however, saw his expenses total increase from $3,300 to over $9,100.
The Region says it was rushing to get the report out ahead of a corporate services committee scheduled for Wednesday but neglected to double check the numbers.
