Leon's - the furniture company that started in Welland is one step closer to buying its rival, the Brick.

Canada's competition commissioner has issued a no action letter, meaning the deal won't be challenged before the Competition Tribunal.

The takeover deal is now expected to close at the end of the month.

Leon's hopes the deal, worth 700 million, will help it compete as more foreign companies including Target enter the Canadian marketplace.
