NRP make 22 arrests in massive Port Colborne drug bust

A large scale drug operation in Port Colborne has been shut down by police, resulting in 22 arrests and more than 55 charges.

Earlier this year, the NRP began getting several reports of drugs being sold in the East Village area of Port Colborne.  That prompted the force to launch Project Krystal Knights, to investigate those behind trafficking of the narcotics.

The investigation led cops to all corners of Niagara, netting officers more than $11,000 in drugs including cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, pot and prescription pills. Also seized, $17,000 in both Canadian and U.S. bills, a number of weapons, including two firearms, one of which was loaded and found in possession of one of the suspects, ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia.

In all, police officers from the canine unit, the street crime unit and the emergency task unit were involved in the bust. 

The 22 charged are all facing a drug charges.
