3/18/2013

The pricetag is out on the Short Hills Deer Hunt back in January.

According to Sun Media, the controversial hunt cost the Ministry of Natural Resources $24 600 in wages, lodging, meals gas mileage and other costs.

The annual operating budget of the park is $25 800.

First Nations hunters were granted access to the park to hunt deer January 5, 6, 12 and 13 under the Indian Act.

Seven deer were harvested over the duration of the hunt.

The hunt prompted outcry and a petition from residents, upset the park was transformed from a "sanctuary to a hunting ground".
