The opening of the Welland Canal this morning hitting a bit of a snag.

The Top Hat Ceremony opening the waterway is set for 10am

But marring the opening, a problem on the Allanburg bridge which is off limit right now to motorists.

NRP tell CKTB the Seaway authority along with fire crews are on scene trying to dislodge an oxygen cylinder  that has become jammed in  the bridge.

The crews are taking precautions with its removal because they are not sure if its pressurized and if its punctured to take off like a rocket.

The Allanburg bridge had been closed yesterday afternoon, for routine maintenance.
