Niagara Falls councillor unveiling details for Fort Erie track deal
A Niagara Falls regional councillor and provincial PC candidate giving us the heads up on details of a deal that will see the Fort Erie Race Track reopen for this season.
Bart Maves says he was in Toronto yesterday for a party caucus meeting and heard details of that pact, which he shared this morning on the Tom McConnell show.
Maves says from what he heard the transition funding deal is for just one year.
It will be worth 5 million dollars, but Maves notes that still won't be enough to keep the track running.
He says the rest of the cash for purses and to run the track will have to come from other sources.
He says that could include the different horseman assocaitions or wager pools.
Maves expects those details to be announced tomorrow as well.
