NRP have new three year deal
Niagara's Police Services Board and the Police Association have reached a new three year deal for both uniform and civilian members of the force.
The contract which is retroactive to January 1st, 2013 includes a wage increase of 2.6 percent in the first year and increases of 2.5 percent in each of the second and third years of the deal.
In a media release, both sides say the deal includes benefit enhancements that bring Niagara closer in line with other major police services.
Officials also say the contract gives management some important tools to better manage the organization and offset some of the costs of the settlement.
This is only the second contract in the last decade both parties were able to reach without the intervention of a third party mediator or arbitrator.
