Cancer Faker pleads Guilty
A guilty plea for a St. Catharines woman who bilked a senior out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by claiming she had terminal cancer.
39-year-old Michelle Meade defrauded a Norfolk County woman out of more than $100,000 over several years.
The victim gave Meade the money to help her pay for her cancer care. A police investigation determined Meade never had cancer.
Meade pleaded guilty to fraud over $5,000 on Thursday.
She returns to court in December.
Court documnets show this isn't the first time Meade has used a terminal cancer diagnosis to defraud people. She's had prior convictions back in 1999 and in 2008.
