Officers stepped up enforcement on highways, waterways and trails over the long weekend, with a focus on distracted driving.
But police add it was disappointing to see that distracted drivers continues to pose a risk on our roadways.
During the Labour Day weekend, officers laid 397 distracted driving charges compared to 107 impaired driving charges.
When it comes to Ontario waterways, police say there has been a 100 percent drop in marine fatalities on OPP policed waterways during the same five year period.
