Dog shot with arrow while on a walk in Welland in excellent condition
A dog hit with an arrow while on a walk with its owners in Welland is recovering at home.
According to the Welland and District SPCA the Labrador mix is in excellent condition and didn't require any surgery.
The owners were walking Tara on a pathway near a wooded area on Nelles Street on Tuesday when the dog ran ahead around a corner toward some bushes.
When it came back, there was an arrow in the mid section of the canine, leading investigators to believe the dog was shot at close range at a 45 degree angle.
John Greer, Executive Director of the Welland and District SPCA says this may have just been an accident and the person or persons responsible are afraid to come forward.
Greer says Tara is extremely friendly and it is not out of the realm of possibility it went right up to the person or persons who shot the arrow.
The SPCA is investigating but cannot say whether it was intentional or an accident at this time.
