Name of spectator facility in St. Catharines to be unveiled Tuesday
CKTB has learned the city of St. Catharines is set to announce the name of the new spectator facility, future home of the Niagara IceDogs.
The unveiling of the building name and logo will be made Tuesday afternoon.
In its contract with the IceDogs, the city retained the right to sell the naming rights to the new arena. The city has also said the name of the street leading to the building is also up for sale, one of many fundraising opportunities for the new facility.
Naming rights and fundraising could net the city $5-million, although that money has already been earmarked to help cover the cost of construction.
In July of 2012, the city hired The Superlative Group as the Naming Rights and sponsorship development consultant.
The spectator facility is slated to open in the Fall of 2014.
