Welland male charged with sexual assault and robbery
Niagara Regional Police has charged two people with various offences connected to a sexual assault at a Welland residence.
An investigation by police launched on Sunday, revealed a man was held against his will, sexually assaulted inside the home, and forced to withdraw money from an ATM after the alleged sexual assault on Saturday.
Charged with sexual assault with a weapon, robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, and uttering threats is 32 year-old Dustin Madere from Welland.
Also charged with one count of robbery is 24 year-old Shiona-Lyn Ryan.
Police say this was not a random incident as both the victim and accused were known to each other.
Madere and Ryan are being held in custody and will attend a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Monday.
