Welland man wants permit to carry a gun
A Welland man wants permission to carry a concealed weapon.
Ian Thomson has applied for a permit to carry a handgun arguing he can't rely on police to protect him.
The former firearms instructor's home was firebombed in a contract hit by four men in August 2010.
Thomson says it all began with a dispute with a neighbour over chickens.
The ringleader of the bombing Randy Weaver has since been released from prison which has Thomson fearing Weaver will seek retribusion.
Thomson notes he needs permission from police to get the permit which he doubts he will get.
