Answers could take months following Ottawa crash
A doctor at Ottawa's Queensway-Carleton Hospital says yesterday's tragedy in west Ottawa is one of the worst cases of mass death and trauma his hospital has ever seen.
Dr. Andrew Falconer was speaking of the morning crash of a double-decker Ottawa city bus and a passing Via Rail train.
The crash killed six people and injured more than 30, eight of whom were still in critical condition last night.
Witness accounts say the bus driver simply didn't stop for the coming train, despite safety barriers and flashing lights at the level rail crossing.
The Transportation Safety Board is promising a thorough investigation, but warning answers could take months.
