Looks like province won't reverse decision on Shorthills deer hunt
Despite the efforts of the Shorthills Wildlife Alliance, it looks like an aboriginal deer hunt in the provincial park in St. Catharines will go ahead as planned.
Alliance spokesperson Robin Zavitz says they had a great turnout for a public meeting on the issue last night organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
She says residents were allowed to express their opposition to the hunt but in the end she adds, the MNR plans to proceed with the hunt.
The Alliance has been fighting the November deer hunt over public safety concerns.
She says her group will continue petitioning local provincial politicians to try to get the Ministry to reconsider its decision.
