LCHS weighs in on exotic animal ban
The Lincoln County Humane Society weighing in on talk of changes to the city's exotic animal bylaw
Executive Director Kevin Strooband says he's made recommendations to council including length restrictions on snakes and venom concerns of other animals.
Talk at council Monday evening focused on size, with the majority of snake advocates calling for a length cap at 3 metres instead of the proposed 2 metres.
Strooband says there are a lot of snakes between 2 and 3 metres that are not harmful to humans.
After some emotional debate, council decided to look into the issue further and deferred the motion for about a month to give staff more time to consider other exotic animal bylaws already in place in Ontario.
