ETFO denies move to rename holidays
The Elementary Teachers Federation causing a firestorm after suggesting teachers use alternate names for holidays like Mother's and Father's Day.
The union says for example "Love Day" would be more inclusive and take into consideration children who live in single parent homes, have gay or lesbian parents or who live with grandparents.
Union President Sam Hammond says they are not trying to rename holidays they simply want teachers to be more sympathetic to children with non tradtional families.
Hammond says suggestions his union is trying to push a L-G-B-T agenda are disturbing.
