More and more Canadians are hanging up on traditional landlines.
The national telecom regulator says the number of residential
phone subscribers fell by 2.1 per cent in 2012 to 11.9 million.
The C-R-T-C says while Canadians have dropped more than a million
telephone lines in the last five years -- wireless subscriptions
rose by 5.8 million.
It says there are now 27.9 million wireless subscribers -- with
an average of two per household.
