Fire crews rescue nine year old boy after fall at Decew gorge
A nine year old boy had to be rescued after a fall at the Decew gorge near the Morning Star Mill in St. Catharines.
The incident happened at around 10:15 Saturday morning.
The boy was on a hike with his uncle and cousin when he slipped and fell approximately 20 feet.
Fire crews had to assemble the high angle rescue team to pull the boy out in a basket and backboard.
He received lacerations to both his legs, along with some bumps on his head.
According to fire officials it was a fluke accident on a path that is commonly used by people when they want to go hiking.
It took fire crews 45 minutes to bring the boy to safety.
