NRP warning of another fraud scam
The so-called bank investigator scam is once again making the rounds in Niagara.
Niagara Police warning you of the scam where someone calls and identifies themselves as a bank employee and try to convince you to help uncover a dishonest employee.
Police say the caller convinces the victim that an employee at their branch is under investigation for some impropriety and a number of accounts have been compromised.
You're asked to take out cash from your personal account and hand it over at an off-sire location... Once that happens the suspect disappears and you're out the money.
Police say these fraud artists are very convincing in their approaches; in some cases the suspects have been able to convince their victims to make multiple withdrawals.
There has been one complaint so far in Niagara, however police are expecting more to surface.
