Province considering more restrictions on smokers
The province is considering ways to limit the effects of second-hand smoke.
On the same day Toronto Public Health began debating restrictions smoking in public places, Health Minister Deb Matthews says the province is considering initiatives as well.
However, she underlines there won't be a full-on ban on smoking.
Matthews says if the 1920s taught us anything, is that prohibition doesn't work.
Toronto's Medical Officer of Health recommends banning smoking on restaurant/bar patios, sports fields, public squares, beaches and entrances to public buildings.
