Province looking at usage based auto insurance
The province thinks usage based car insurance is a viable way to bring down car insurance rates, however the Finance Minister has questions about it.
Charles Sousa points specifically to privacy concerns when monitoring your driving habits by placing a device in your car.
However, Sousa notes this is an option, so anyone who doesn't want to do it, doesn't have to.
Car insurance companies in the province are looking at usage-based car insurance as a way to cut down premiums by 15 per cent, a promise the Liberal government made to the NDP in order for the opposition party to help pass the minority budget this past spring.
NDP leader Andrea Horwath says her party will look at this proposal, but says it still seems as though insurance companies will be charging high rates with fewer services provided.
