Changes to Niagara federal boundaries
After more than a year of proposals, public hearings and reports, The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission has not only had to create fifteen new ridings in Ontario, they also have made some changes to three of Niagara's four federal ridings.
The riding of Welland changes its' name to Niagara Centre.
It also loses the Township of Wainfleet from within its boundaries to the renamed Niagara West, which also drops the Glanbrook from its' name as the riding Flamborough-Glanbrook is created around the outskirts of Hamilton.
Niagara West also picks up the western, mostly rural portion of the St. Catharines.
The city of St. Catharines will now be represented by three different ridings at the Federal level.
There are no changes to the riding of Niagara Falls
