 Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are "dismayed and disappointed" in the Kurt Cobain avatar to be featured in the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 game, and today the two former Nirvana members issued a strongly worded statement regarding the situation.
The pair wrote, "We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game. The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate - we have no control whatsoever in that area. While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in re-locking Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future.
"It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters. Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better."
As for Courtney love , she isn't too happy about Kurt Cobain's appearance in the recently released Guitar Hero 5, so much so that she's threatened legal action against the videogame's creators Activision.
Well, the company has now issued a statement about the whole debacle, refreshing Love's memory that she actually cleared the way to use Cobain's image. 


"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero® 5," the statement reads.

The Trews exploded onto the scene after winning the 97.7 HTZ FM Rock Search. Winning this contest would prove to be their big break landing them a recording contract with Sony-BMG Canada. Their first full-length CD "House of Ill Fame" soon followed and became certified gold in Canada.

John Michael Bieganski is doing fine now, but he might not be doing so great if not for the quick action of a group of people willing to step forward and help him Saturday night after he was stabbed in the leg by a knife-wielding assailant. Bieganski had his leg cut during Cruefest at Darien Lake Theme Park.
A friend carried him from the mosh pit after he had been stabbed.
Trouble started for Bieganski, according to a Sheriff's Office report, when he thought he saw a friend being tackled and punched by one or two other men. When he tried to pull one of the men off his friend -- it turned out not to be his friend who was being attacked -- Bieganski said he suddenly felt something warm on his leg, touched it and then saw the blood.

Classic thrash music is at front and centre right now as Megadeth and Slayer line up to release what are, for both acts, stunning returns to form. There are even rumours about the Big Four - completed by Metallica and Anthrax - touring together for the first, and almost certainly only, time ever.
That's despite wars of words which have spanned the decades, and which have returned to the headlines in recent weeks. You'd think perhaps these iconic musicians would be keeping the olive branch shop busy.
Instead - and despite a successful double-header tour of Canada last month, further dates planned, and Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine's claim of no longer being the most hated man in thrash - Slayer's Kerry King isn't ready to turn the gas off just yet. He tells GuitarWorld.com: "I just don't have any respect for Dave. As far as playing goes he's awesome. But I know things. I know he's a hypocrite and I have no respect for that kind of person. But when I see him I'll say, 'What's up Dave?' If he's not an asshole to me, I won't be one to him."

This month's issue of the Greek edition of Metal Hammer magazine features an exclusive interview with FIREWIND guitarist Gus G. about his current stint as the lead axeman in OZZY OSBOURNE's solo band. Gus explains how he came to be considered for the position, discusses his first audition with the Prince Of Darkness and expresses his admiration for Zakk Wylde, whom he replaced in Ozzy's group.
On how the whole thing came about: Gus: "I got a message on my MySpace page from Rob 'Blasko', Ozzy's bass player, asking me what was doing, if was living in America or not and saying that he wanted to talk to me. I never thought he'd want me for something like that [playing with Ozzy]. I initially thought that maybe he wanted to talk to me about doing a project or something and then he told me that one of Ozzfest's managers was looking for me. The manager said that they wanted me to fly out to Los Angeles immediately for a show that Ozzy was about to do in Anaheim, California."
His thoughts on Zakk Wylde: Gus: "Zakk is a tremendous guitar player , just like all the guys that have played with Ozzy. In fact, Zakk is my favorite Ozzy guitar player ever and my biggest influence of them all! It's quite an honor for me to step into his shoes."

In a display of pyrotechnics likely not on the concert plan, a 28-year-old Utah man was arrested after police said he started a field fire outside the Usana Amphitheater during the Def Leppard show Tuesday.
The man had been kicked out of the concert venue at 5150 S. 6055 West because he was intoxicated and spilling beer on other patrons, said West Valley City police Sgt. Tom McLachlan. He snuck back in but was caught and put in a taxi to go home. Then he came back a second time.
Instead of trying to re-enter the show, however, he went to a field just west of the amphitheater and started a fire, McLachlan said. The firetruck could not immediately reach the flames because the concertgoers were leaving, according to a jail booking statement, and the fire burned a 30 foot by 50 foot patch before it was extinguished.

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was a little more understanding than his bandmate Gene Simmons about the media's role in spoiling [what they now claim was a] surprise the band had in store for Oshawa - the Canadian city that had won an online voting competition to determine whose hometown would be included in the group's "Kiss Alive 35" tour.
"You may hear a slightly different story from Gene, but so be it," Stanley said. "The media was carrying the dissent and upset feeling of the fans. They weren't creating anything, they were reporting it. Don't blame the messenger." [Paul was speaking of Gene's insult of the press and the fans when he issued his lame attempt at an excuse
Stanley said Oshawa was actually going to be on next leg of the tour, which hadn't been announced yet. The outcry from Oshawa's KISS fans compelled the band to make a change and play there sooner. "October 7 was not originally deemed the day we were playing Oshawa," Stanley said. But "to sooth everybody's hurt feelings and concerns" KISS decided to launch their new album in the KISS-loving city.

Not surprisingly Black Label Society have pulled the plug on their involvement on the Pedal To The Metal tour due to frontman Zakk Wylde's hospitalization for several blood clots. The tour will go on without them.
Last week Zack was rushed to the hospital after the show in Montana. He tweeted on the severity of his ailment. " after 48 hours in the ER and a CT scan they have found blood clots in each of my lungs and in one leg. Singing will cause and embolism" the rest of the Black label society tour has been canceled

Vince Neil has slammed Axl Rose for letting the Guns N' Roses fans down. Guns N' Roses' latest album, "Chinese Democracy", the band's first since 1993's "The Spaghetti Incident", failed to live up to the hype its 10 years in the making generated.
Neil tells the U.K.'s The Sun that believes GNR's loyal fans have finally grown sick of the band, thanks chiefly to Rose's failure to turn up to rehearsals and perform live shows.
"For ['Chinese Democracy'] to fail was pretty crazy after so many years of being recorded. Then the tour got cancelled," Vince is quoted as saying. "A buddy of mine [presumably referring to current GUNS N' ROSES guitarist D.J. Ashba, who also plays in Sixx: A.M. with Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx. - Ed.] went to go play guitar for him. They rehearsed for three months and Axl never once turned up. Rule number one: show up! -

What you missed on August 17th 2009

In light of the just-announced cancellation of Aerosmith /ZZ Top tour dates which had been slated, ZZ Top is mounting a tour of its own that will hit the ground running as soon as this coming week.
Routing will take ZZ Top to many of the markets that had been on that cancelled tour's itinerary, giving fans a second chance, in a manner of speaking, to see the band after all. ZZ Top affirms a commitment to scheduling as many dates as feasible as soon as possible with more specific details relating to markets, venues, ticket sales, etc. to be revealed shortly.
Ticket refunds for the rest of the dates, with special guests ZZ Top, will be available at point of purchase.
In a statement issued, guitarist Joe Perry says, "Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour. I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way. We hope we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible. I sure am going to miss playing with ZZ Top, just as I'm sure the fans are going to miss seeing them playing with us as well."
Guitarist Brad Whitford adds, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven for a speedy recovery and return to good health."

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of the legendary rock band KISS will make appearances in a Las Vegas live theatre extravaganza co-produced by Singapore entertainment company Storm Lion.
This was announced on Tuesday (August 11) by Storm Lion and its Los Angeles conference at The Arts House in Old Parliament Lane in Singapore.
Called "Kiss: Carnival Of Souls", the live show is a brainchild of Stanley and Simmons. Set against a dark carnival, the show, named after one of the group's albums, embarks on a journey seeking true love.

After a successful two-year start-up, Motley Crue's Crue Fest may take a year off in order to allow the band to record its next album.
"We have about a month left (of this year's Crue Fest 2) and then we're going to be taking quite a bit of time off," Crue bassist Nikki Sixx tells Billboard.com. "I feel like we're ending being out for quite a long time, touring and 'Saints of Los Angeles ' and the Carnival of Sins (tour) and 'Red, White & Crue'...really going away on a big high to start working on writing a new record and looking forward to the next Crue Fest, which'll probably be in 2011."
But Sixx adds that there's a possibility that future Crue Fests could even hit the road without the namesake band on the bill.

As previously reported, reports indicate a triple disc set of Sonic Boom will be issued through Walmart featuring the new album, a CD of re-recorded KISS hits, and a DVD. This is as yet unconfirmed, more details will be revealed soon. There is no listing for the album at Walmart's official website as of yet.

FOREIGNER: Streaming New Single
Foreigner is streaming the new single "When It Comes to Love" at ForeignerOnline.com. (The song will hit the airwaves on Monday.) It's from their forthcoming three-disc set, Can't Slow Down, which will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart on September 29th. Disc one will contain 13 new songs, the second disc will have re-mixes of 10 of their original hit recordings, and the third disc will be a concert DVD.

WOODSTOCK: No Official Anniversary Plans
There will not be an official Woodstock 40th anniversary concert. The 1969 festival's promoter, Michael Lang, has abandoned plans for a festival this year, saying there's no money or sponsors. He was hoping to stage a free anniversary show in Brooklyn's Prospect Park, but he could not find anyone to cover the 8-to-10-million-dollar cost. He then looked to move it to late September, but again, those plans fell through.
Lang, who also produced Woodstock '94 and '99, will be one of the presenters of Kidstock on August 23rd at Belleayre [prn: Bel Air] Mountain in Upstate, New York, just west of Woodstock. The show is a "Tribute to Woodstock" by young musicians from Paul Green's School of Rock.
Woodstock was held on August 16th, 17th and 18th, 1969, in Bethel, New York.

The Octo-Mom might not have a job, but her kids are going to be bringing in a lot of cash soon. Nadya Suleman's 14 kids will earn 250-dollars a day for starring in that reality series their mom agreed to do for a British production company. Over three years, the children will bring in about 250-thousand bucks altogether.
E-Online says 15-percent of their earnings will be put in a trust account, as required by California law, until they are 18.

Jane's Addiction have been forced to cancel their upcoming Australian tour due to the hospitalization of drummer Stephen Perkins.
According to a press release from the group's spokesperson, Perkins, 41, has been admitted to the Infectious Disease Ward at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for treatment of an infection in his elbow.
"Doctors expect to keep him there for the next few days for further diagnosis and observation while anti-biotic treatment continues," the statement read, noting that a full recovery is expected over the next few weeks

The management for legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (Heaven & Hell, Black Sabbath , Rainbow, Dio) has released the following statement to Blabbermouth.Net:
"It has come to [our] attention that a band calling themselves Dio are advertised in Pollstar under Ronnie James Dio as playing Zomerpop festival in Netherlands on Sept 5/6. This is not Ronnie James Dio or anything to do with Dio. This is a trademark name. This is very misleading for the Dio fans."
The Zomerpop date has since been removed from Ronnie James Dio's concert listing on Pollstar. However, "DIO" is still being advertised as taking part in the event on the festival's official web site.

Although Korn itself has not announced a new recording contract, singer Jonathan Davis has apparently signed a solo deal with the Warner Music Group.
Davis makes a guest appearance on the new album from ex-Faith No More frontman Chuck Mosley, and he's listed as appearing "courtesy of Warner Bros. Records." A management spokesperson confirmed the deal to HardDrive Radio.
Davis has been working on his debut solo album for months, with plans to release it later this year or early in 2010.

The Rolling Stones, Elton John, the White Stripes and Nirvana are among the highlights in the latest wave of rockers who will have songs features on the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 music video game. For the White Stripes, who provide their Get Behind Me Satan opener "Blue Orchid," and Elton John, whose "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)" will be alright for playing, GH5 marks the first time their songs have appeared on a music video game.
Additionally, GH5 will feature an unreleased live recording of Nirvana's Nevermind track "Lithium," the Stones' "Sympathy For The Devil" and an exclusive re-recording of the Love & Rockets' "Mirror People." A Los Angeles blogger who leaked new Guns N' Roses songs on the Internet before their official release on the band's first new album in 17 years, was sentenced to two months of home confinement on Tuesday.
Kevin Cogill also received one year's probation and must appear in an anti-piracy commercial under the terms of his plea deal with federal prosecutors. He pleaded guilty last December to a single misdemeanor count of violating federal copyright laws, and agreed to help authorities identify the original source of the leak.
Cogill posted nine tracks from the Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy" onto the Web site antiquiet.com (http://www.antiquiet.com) five months before the CD came out last November.

What you missed on Tuesday July 14th 2009

Leave it to Danny Bonaduce to solve the Aerosmith injury mystery. The band's camp has been rather vague about the reason behind their recent string of concert cancelations, but Bonaduce cut through the PR red tape and got the real answer right from the source.
Aerosmith Drummer Joey Kramer appeared on The Danny Bonaduce Show on WYSP in Philly Monday morning to talk about his new autobiography and Bonaduce got the straight answer about the gig killing injury.
Kramer explained that it is indeed frontman Steven Tyler who was injured and gave the following details, "There's two big muscles in your legs, one's the quadricep, and he ripped that muscle. And it's painful, it hurts; for the first couple of days, he couldn't even stand up or walk or anything, so... [He injured it] jumping around on the stage." As for when they will return to the road? "We're hoping it's in the next week or so, but everything that has been canceled will be rescheduled," Kramer said.

In what is turning out to be the biggest heavy metal soap opera in recent memory, TMD has now learned that Zakk Wylde just might still have a job playing lead guitar for the Ozzy Osbourne band after all.
According to the bearded one's wife, Barbaranne Wylde, maybe there still is "No Rest for the Wicked"!

Ozzy splits with Zack Wylde

Ozzy Osbourne has told Classic Rock Magazine that his new home studio has given him a new lease of life. And he's thinking about a new name to go with it. He tells Editor in Chief Scott Rowley: "It's great to have your own studio. I'm just enjoying my life now. I've got a new album and I'm working on it as we speak.
"Zakk Wylde came down and did a bunch of stuff - I don't know if I want to use it but I've got it there if I do. I haven't fallen out with him, but he's got his own band I felt my stuff was beginning to sound like Black Label Society. I just felt like I wanted a change.
"I'm getting a new guitar player. I tried John 5 at one time and I didn't really give him a chance. And I've got a guy from Greece coming in."

AEROSMITH: Back to Work?

 

After postponing five shows due to Steven Tyler's leg injury, Aerosmith are set to resume their tour with ZZ Top tomorrow (Saturday) in Tampa, Florida.

Brad Whitford has sat out all of this tour so far after striking his head on his car and undergoing surgery. Whitford is expected back on stage tomorrow in Tampa.

 

Pearl Jam announced today that they will play a series of select North American tour dates in support of their ninth studio album, Backspacer. Scheduled for release in the U.S. on Sunday, September 20, 2009.
The album will be released in the U.S. through Target, the exclusive mass retail partner, Pearl Jam's own Ten Club and independent retailers, as well as online through digital, and gaming platforms yet to be announced.
The first single, "The Fixer," will be released at radio on July 20, 2009.

What's with Trent Reznor doing something insanely entertaining every few days? LED ZEPPELIN: Taking Jacko's Place?

The Led Zeppelin reunion rumors never end. The latest to come out of the UK is that AEG Live -- the producers of Michael Jackson's now canceled 50-show run at London's O-2 arena -- want the dates to be split between Zeppelin and ABBA.
A source tells The Sun, "Only Michael Jackson could sell out 50 nights at such a big arena, but Led Zeppelin and ABBA combined might just rival him. There is huge money on the table." A spokesman for Zeppelin was unavailable for comment. It was at the O-2 where Zeppelin reunited in 2007.

What went down on July 2nd 2009

Conspiracy theorist, this story is for you! Aerosmith "postponed" their concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday night. But why did they do it?
Reports say the "show was postponed 'due to an injury within the band,' according to a posting on the venue's web site." However, the band's official site had this vague statement: "The Aerosmith with ZZ Top concert in Cincinnati (July 1, 2009 at Riverbend Music Center) has been postponed. When more details are available they will be posted here."
So was there an injury within the band? The venue seems to think so, but could the show have been axed due to poor ticket sales due to excessive prices? The band's vague statement leads to speculation like this but could there be another reason?
We'll have to wait and see what reason the band gives for the "postponement

What you missed on June 30th 2009

Investigators from the Los Angeles Coroners Office were back at Michael Jackson's L-A-area residence yesterday, and reportedly removed two large bags of medication as evidence. There's no report of what medications were hauled off by investigators or what type of toxic cocktail could have been in the King of Pop's system at the time of his death. There have been an increasing number of reports that Jackson received a daily shot of the pain medicine Demerol.
Also yesterday, the L-A Coroner called the autopsy report that appeared in the British tabloid The Sun as a fraud. In a statement to T-M-Z, the coroner's office said, "The report that is being published did not come from this office. I don't know where the information came from, or who that information came from. It is not accurate. Some of it is totally false."
A second autopsy being performed at the request of the family was under way yesterday afternoon.
Photos of Jackson rehearsing in Los Angeles for his London shows surfaced yesterday, showing him dancing onstage with a number of backup dancers. Jackson didn't look frail and near death but, to the contrary, a seemingly health, robust version of himself.
On the topic of those London shows, promoter A-E-G Live announced yesterday that it's offering full refunds -- including service charges -- to fans who purchased tickets through authorized agents. Beginning tomorrow, fans can head to MichaelJacksonLive-dot-com for information about receiving full refunds. But fans will have the option of receiving the physical tickets as souvenirs in lieu of a full refund. The tickets were printed using a special process and were designed by Jackson. More than 85-million dollars worth of tickets for those shows had already been sold.

So it looks like it wasn't a bump on the head that killed pitchman Billy Mays after all. The coroner in Hillsborough County, Florida, blamed a pulmonary embolism for the 50-year-old's death, saying that Mays "had an enlarged heart, a thickening of the wall of the ventricle which takes blood to the heart."

Eddie Van Halen is no longer on the market: Saturday night he married Janie Liszewski, his girlfriend of three years.
The ceremony took place in the garden of his seven-acre estate in the hills above Studio City, Calif., starting at 7 p.m., when Liszewski walked down the aisle to Van Halen's 'When It's Love', performed by the Sonus Quartet.
The 54-year-old groom's 18-year-old son, Wolfgang, served as best man, while brother Alex Van Halen, an ordained minister, officiated at the 20-minute, nondenominational service.

Details about Michael Jackson's autopsy have leaked in the British tabloid press, and the picture isn't pretty. According to the London Sun, Jackson, who stood five-10, weighed 112 pounds at the time of his death. There were partially dissolved pills in his stomach, but no food -- he reportedly only ate one small meal a day. Jackson's hips, thighs and shoulders were dotted with needle marks, which appeared to come from pain injects he'd been getting three times a day for years. A network of scars lined Jackson's face, a result of at least 13 plastic surgeries. Jackson also had lost virtually all of his hair, with only peach fuzz on his scalp. A scarred section above his left ear was apparently due to the infamous 1984 Pepsi commercial accident, when his hair ignited. Jackson's back had cuts on his back, indicating a recent fall, and there was unexplained bruising to his knees and shins. Jackson also suffered several broken ribs and there were four injection sites in the area of his heart -- all a result of efforts to revive the fallen King of Pop.
Other reports indicate that investigators at Jackson's residence found no Demerol or OxyContin, the highly addictive painkillers that Jackson had allegedly grown dependent on.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the Jackson family is considering a Janet Jackson and Jackson Brothers tour. The proposal is that the Jacksons would get together to fulfill at least some of Michael Jackson's London shows or do a U-S tour, performing Michael's his and the Jackson Fives' hits. Janet would apparently front the family act.

The former co-owner of the Station nightclub in Rhode Island - where one hundred people were killed in the February 2003 blaze at a Great White concert - has been released early from prison for good behavior.
A spokesman for the state prison said Michael Derderian was freed Thursday. He was initially due out this fall.
Derderian spent less than three years behind bars after pleading no contest to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the West Warwick nightclub fire.

As expected, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had a big opening -- though it wasn't quite as big as The Dark Knight's. The Transformers sequel made off with 112-million dollars in its first weekend and 201-point-two million since opening on Wednesday. That was just short of The Dark Knight's five-day record of 203-point-eight million in 2008.
Last weekend's top movie, the Sandra Bullock comedy The Proposal, fell to a distant second with 18-point-five million. The Hangover was right behind with 17-point-two million in its fourth weekend.
Up was fourth with 13-million, pushing it past Star Trek as the highest-grossing movie of the year so far, with 250-million.
And the weekend's other new release, the Cameron Diaz tear-jerker My Sister's Keeper, landed in fifth with 12-million.

If you believe the rumor mill, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones is working with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Josh Homme Earlier this year, Jones said he was "working on some other music, which is more rock based, with a couple of other people," but couldn't reveal who they were. Now there's speculation on a Zeppelin blog that it could be Grohl and Homme.

Infomercial king Billy Mays, 50, was found dead in his Tampa, Florida home Sunday.
It wasn't clear how Mays died, but he had said he hit his head when an airplane he was on made a rough landing Saturday. His wife Deborah said he didn't feel well before he went to bed that night. According to FOX News, police found no signs of a break-in at the home and do not suspect foul play. An autopsy is expected to be complete by today.
The bearded salesman with the booming voice was best known for his T-V ads for OxiClean and Orange Glo. Most recently, he's been part of the reality series Pitchmen on the Discovery Channel

The play, which runs from September 4 - October 11 in Berkeley, CA, is directed by Michael Mayer, who won a Tony Award for Spring Awakening
After an American Idiot movie "fell through the cracks," Green Day found out that Mayer had suggested that "he'd love to do the musical of American Idiot" and the play started to come together.

Here's what you missed on June 18th

The long-awaited memoir from Ozzy Osbourne will be published by Sphere this autumn in the UK. I Am Ozzy will come out on 1st October, with Osbourne visiting the UK on publication for a week of publicity and two book signings.
Antonia Hodgson, publisher of the commercial division at Little, Brown, said the book was "fantastic, very much in the tone of his voice, very funny and a very full story."
The cover shoot for the book is being held Wednesday (17th June). Hodgson said the publisher was in discussions over a US edition.

Update on the Eddie Van halen lawsuit
A Nike spokesperson has dismissed as "without merit" Eddie Van Halen's lawsuit over an alleged design similarity between the axeman's iconic "Frankenstein" guitar and a new line of the sportswear company's sneakers.
"Based on the information provided to us, we have not infringed on any rights held by Mr. Van Halen," Nike said in a statement. "Nike's Dunk shoe design is not substantially similar to any of the Van Halen designs, and Nike has not referenced the 'Van Halen' name or image as part of any marketing campaign or promotional material associated with the shoe."
Van Halen's company, ELVH Inc., filed a cause of action for copyright infringement Friday in Los Angeles Federal District Court against Beaverton, Oregon-based

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen filed a lawsuit against Nike in Los Angeles Friday, alleging the company used the trademarked striped design from his guitar on their new line of "Dunk Lows" tennis shoes.
The Nike shoes feature red, white and black streaks along the midsole. The suit states that Van Halen received a 2001 copyright for the design on the body of his "Frankenstein" electric guitar.

Court papers allege that Nike infringed on that copyright by using the design on sneakers without "consent, approval or license

But the late-night host insists that what's got people outraged is the misunderstanding over which Palin daughter the joke was about.

On Monday's edition of `Late Show,' Letterman explains that the risque joke thought by some to have targeted Palin's underage daughter, Willow, was actually intended for 18-year-old daughter Bristol.

MIKE TYSON'S DAUGHTER DIES

Mike Tyson's four-year-old daughter Exodus died yesterday in Phoenix.
She had accidentally strangled herself when she got tangled in a cord from an exercise machine while her mother was cleaning in another room of their house. Tyson was in Las Vegas at the time of the incident, but flew in to Phoenix yesterday morning. The name of Exodus's mother has not been released.

KIEFER: SORRY FOR HEAD-BUTT

 

Kiefer Sutherland might get off the hook for that head-butt now that he's apologized to fashion designer Jack McCollough.
Kiefer said, "I am sorry about what happened that night and sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was injured." Also in that statement, McCollough said, "I appreciate Mr. Sutherland's statement and wish him well."
Now that Sutherland and McCollough have made amends, there's a good chance that the Manhattan District Attorney will ask the judge that the case be dropped. Kiefer has been charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly breaking the fashion designer's nose with a head-butt on May 5th.

Now that Paul Rodgers has left Queen, rumors are flying that the band may have found their new frontman in American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert who performed with the group's principles during the show's finale.
Rolling Stone asked Brian May about rumors of the group offering Lambert the gig, here is what he said, "Amongst all that furor, there wasn't really a quiet moment to talk," May tells Rolling Stone in an e-mail interview. "But [drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there."

The 39-year-old Russian singer is in her second trimester of pregnancy. Mel's estranged wife, Robyn, who filed for divorce in April, and his older children have been told the news.
Mel and Robyn, who have been reportedly separated for two years, have seven children together.

The show must go on. That's Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell's battle cry after suffering an on stage injury that required a visit to the hospital.
Farrell tore his calf muscle during the first song of the band's set at the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta but he soldiered on to complete the set and is going against medical advise by continuing with scheduled tour dates, according to an Associated Press report.
Farrell was taken by ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center after Sunday's show and was ordered by doctors to stay off his leg for several days but he reportedly still plans to perform Tuesday night when the tour is schedule to hit Austin, Texas

Megadeth score film music for Will Ferrell: "I'm going to be working on the new Will Ferrell movie, Land of the Lost... going to be putting some music on that," frontman Dave Mustaine tells TheLiveLine.com. "I went and saw the movie last week and it was hilarious. I loved it. I love Will Ferrell; I think he's hilarious anyways. But, yeah, we're getting ready to send some music up to these guys right now... then I'll be heading up there this week to hopefully finish all this off with their guys. And, man, how exciting for me."

Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown is such an "event" record, it warrants a special Friday, May 15 release date. This Friday, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool will celebrate the record's release with an in-store appearance at the Best Buy on 5th Avenue in New York City. The guys will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 16. Next week, Green Day will also perform on Good Morning America on Friday, May 22.

Jimmy Fallon is finally getting his bachelor's degree in communications 15 years after leaving a New York college to pursue his comedy career.
The Late Night host will pick up his diploma and speak at the College of St. Rose commencement Saturday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Fallon attended St. Rose in Albany from 1992 through 1995. He started as a computer science major but switched to communications. He left for Los Angeles just one semester short of graduating.
The college says Fallon earned his degree after satisfying requirements for the remaining credits by presenting a portfolio of his work.

Rockers Duff McKagan and Slash would go back to playing with Axl Rose before reteaming with former Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland.
The duo are still looking for Weiland's replacement a year after sacking the singer .
McKagan and Slash would rather reconcile with their hot-headed former Guns N' Roses frontman, Rose, first - despite the fact that their fall-out with the singer remains one of the rock world's most legendary.
Bassist McKagan insists he and Slash would work with Rose again if they had to pick between the two temperamental singers.
McKagan says, "Some bad s**t happened at the end of the last Velvet Revolver tour. It was brutal.
"There were late gigs... I just wanted it to be over."

According to TMZ, estranged wife, Linda, claims she needs an additional $8,200 a month from the Hulkster so she can move "thousands of miles away" from him because she believes she's in "imminent danger of becoming a victim." She also wants 24,000 bucks for "advanced rent and security deposits" for a place in California.
And if Hulk doesn't cough up the cash, she says, she'll file a domestic violence injunction against him.

Slash will be a "mentor" on American Idol next week. The guitarist let the news slip on Twitter over the weekend, saying he's going to appear on "Rock Week." American Idol airs live on Tuesday and Wednesday on FOX.

As soon as Ron Wood's divorce from his second wife Jo is final, he'll marry his 20-year old Russian girlfriend.
The Woods split last July when Woody took up with the waitress.
A source close to Jo, who says she is "devastated and now knows there is no turning back. Ronnie wants the divorce to be settled as soon as possible so he can marry Kat. Jo always believed this was just a silly fling, but that couldn't be further from the truth. She worked really hard to remain on good terms with Ronnie despite what he has done. But now instead of sorting things out he wants to fight out any claims (in court)."

JAY LENO HOSPITALIZED

 

Jay Leno was forced to cancel yesterday's taping of The Tonight Show after he was hospitalized for an undisclosed illness.
Jay reported to NBC studios yesterday, but had a staff member bring him to the Medical Center when he began to feel ill. It's believed he was suffering from food poisoning.
A rep for the show says he's "doing just fine. He was kidding around with the hospital staff and running his monologue jokes by the doctors and the nurses. He's expected back to work on Monday."

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER DODGES BULLET

 

Dog the Bounty Hunter had a close call Tuesday night when a bail-jumper took a shot at the reality star.
Police in Colorado say shots were fired at Duane "Dog" Chapman and a bail bondsman when they tried to take 35-year-old Hoang Nguyen into custody.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Undaunted, Dog caught the guy the next day -- and TMZ reports that Nguyen has been booked for attempted homicide.

SMELLS LIKE BREAKFAST

 

Sausage king Jimmy Dean and his wife escaped a late-night fire that heavily damaged their home in Varina, Virginia.
Fire officials said the blaze caused extensive damage to the basement, first floor, and attic of the farmhouse.
Jimmy, 80, and his wife, Donna, were not injured in the blaze and were safely outside the home when firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

GODFATHER II VIDEO GAME PROMOTION BREAKS THE LAW

The marketing team at video game manufacturer Electronic Arts is in a bit of hot water.
In hopes of drumming up excitement for Godfather II, based on the famous mobster movie, they sent copies of the game to journalists -- along with a bunch of fun stuff, including brass knuckles.
The problem is that even just owning a set of brass knuckles is illegal in many states and can carry huge penalties.
Upon hearing that brass knuckles were a huge no-no, Electronic Arts started helping journalists with proper disposal of the items. (In other words ... They helped the journalists hide the evidence. Nice.)

Does Whitesnake's frontman David Coverdale lipsynch, or as our UK friends call it, mime to pre-recorded tapes? One of his peers says that he saw him do it and isn't to happy about the practice. Blabbermouth has the story (and the video):
In a recently conducted an interview with legendary vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple) let the cat out of the bag.
When asked if he has ever used pre-recorded tapes for backing and/or lead vocals, Joe replied, "To be honest with you, I have one machine that helps sing the backgrounds - it's from DigiTech, and it's a great technology - but it's not samples, it's live; you have to sing into the microphone and then this machine will take your voice, whatever you put into this machine is exactly what you get. So if you sing like sh*t, it's gonna sound like shit. So there's no wizardry, there's no tapes. Because recently I heard on the Internet that David Coverdale was using all kinds of tapes. Well, I was in Finland [in June 2008] and we were on the same as Whitesnake, and I couldn't believe he was using these tapes - for lead singing! Not just backgrounds, but lead! And I was... My mouth was open. I was like, 'What the f**k, David?! You can't do this. You look so stupid, so foolish.' And everyone is complaining about this. No, I'm singing live.

Slash says he has completed work on four songs from his upcoming solo record.
The former Guns N' Roses man is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding guest singers on the album, although rumours persist that Lenny Kravitz, Alice Cooper, and ex-Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie will be involved.
Writing on his MySpace blog, the guitarist said: "We've nailed 4 killer tracks with 4 amazing vocals so far and nailing another one Tuesday, so things are going extremely well.
"Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless & the rhythm section, Josh [Freese, ex-Nine Inch Nails] & Chris [Chaney, ex-Jane's Addiction] are priceless.

SPECTOR IS GUILTY

 

Phil Spector was found guilty of second-degree murder yesterday. It took nine days of deliberations for the jury to rule that the producer was responsible for actress Lana Clarkson's death. She was shot dead at Spector's California mansion on February 3rd, 2003, just hours after they'd met at a Sunset Strip club.

Spector now faces 15 years to life behind bars. Sentencing is set for May 29th.

Stephen Colbert could be going into orbit ... in name only. The host of The Colbert Report looks like he'll have a new room on the International Space Station named after him.
NASA is sending an astronaut to appear on the Colbert Report tomorrow to announce the choice.

With sales this yesterday (March 30) of more than 140,000 tickets sold for the Rogers Centre Dates, 82,000 tickets sold in New York, 72,000 in Boston and 65,000 in Chicago, the U2 360° Tour will set the largest single-day attendance record in each city, according to tour producer Live Nation.

Jason Newsted has confirmed that he will indeed perform with Metallica at their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, along with current bassist Robert Trujillo and another former bassist, Ron McGovney, who was in the band at its inception. Ray Burton, the father of the late Cliff Burton, also will be there.
According to Newsted, drummer Lars Ulrich called and invited him to Cleveland for the induction. "I talked to Lars, and it's all good!"

Green Day's "American Idiot" is headed from disc to stage.

Michael Mayer, the Tony Award-winning director is adapting the trio's 2004 concept album for the Theatre.
The production will run Sept. 4-Oct. 11 to open 2009-10 season, with tickets now on sale for early performances at www.berkeleyrep.org.

GREEN DAY: Breakdown on a Friday

 

Green Day's new album, 21st Century Breakdown, will be out on Friday, May 15th. The first single, "Know Your Enemy," is due out early next month.
It's divided into three acts -- "Heroes and Cons," "Charlatans and Saints," and "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades" -- and follows the lives of a young couple named "Christian" and "Gloria."

CHICKENFOOT: Album Details

 

The debut album by Chickenfoot -- the supergroup featuring Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Joe Satriani -- will be released in stores on June 7th. The packaging will be heat sensitive, so when you touch the CD inlay, photos of the band will be revealed behind the Chickenfoot logo.
Chickenfoot will tour Europe in June and July with U.S. dates in the fall.

SMASHING PUMPKINS: Jimmy Speaks

 

Jimmy Chamberlin has finally commented on his departure from Smashing Pumpkins. The drummer penned a note on his blog that says, "I will say, without going into any unnecessary details, that this represents a positive move forward for me. I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don't fully possess. I won't pretend I'm into something I'm not. I won't do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can't just 'cash the check,' so to speak ... My best goes out to Billy [Corgan], and I'm glad he has chosen to continue under the name. It is his right."

Heaven and Hell is essentially the Black Sabbath line-up that was together from 1979-1982 and then again in 1991-1992. They have a new album (The Devil You Know) coming out on April 28th but  we found a stream of "Bible Black," the first single from that album.

His lawyer tells the website that Tom's "innocent until proven guilty."

Bruce Willis is either getting married or celebrating his birthday this week in Turks and Caicos.
Rumors have surfaced that Bruce will soon walk down the aisle with 32-year-old model Emma Heming. His ex-wife Demi Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher reportedly arrived on the island Saturday and a block of ocean-view rooms and private villas have been reserved for Bruce's guests at a hotel near the actor's home.

            What my man did on Valentines day, When I got to work there was a dozen carnations waiting for me at work.  Then my man surprised me by taking me out for supper at the Mandarin. We had a very nice dinner. Then bonehead decided that he wanted some ice cream for desert.  Of course he couldn't just have plain ice cream he had to have the chocolate drizzle and the pump wasn't working properly. He was pressing on it lightly and nothing was cumming out so I told him to put a little more pressure and when he did that we both ended up covered in chocolate drizzle as well as the whole ice cream counter. We couldn't go any where after because our shirts where covered in the drizzle so we came home and did laundry together. We laugh about it now.

I actually introduced my boyfriend to S&B day last year! he had never heard of it before but he was definitely excited when I told him about it.  Last year was a definite success ;) We actually had met after valentines day last year so he got his S&B day without having to give me a great valentines to get it.  I guess from now on I will have to give the great S&B day to get the valentines day I want! little different then most out there!  this year he took me to my favourite expensive restaurant, bought me a heart shaped box of chocolates and of course the dozen long stem roses! was an amazing night together ;) so i'm writing you guys today so maybe you can help me make S&B day this year better then the last! (gotta keep it up or I may not get my valentines day!)

My husband deserves steak and bj day not only for what he did on Valentines day but for what he does for me everyday.  Valentines day started out with chocolate chip pancakes in bed and let me tell you pancakes were not the only things being ate in bed that mornin.  He also gave me a dozen red roses and chocolates and took me shopping and let me buy myself whatever I wanted which is very brave for a man to set a woman loose in a store and tell her she can buy whatever she wants but thats the kind of man he is he likes to keep me happy.  Then he cooked me dinner and surprised me with ice cream cake from DQ.  Then we finished the day off how it began in the bedroom.  So Saturday will be my day to repay him by suckin on his big $%&* over and over till he just cant take anymore.

Hey Mike.  I definately deserve a steak & BJ.  I'll tell you what I did on Valentine's day - nothing.
My girlfriend of like 18 years moved out on Feb. 1st.  Now I have to refinance the house, assume a big mortgage, pay her out & buy stuff to replace what she's taking.  I even had to buy a blender because everyone knows you can't make frozen margauritas without a blender.  I think that alone's worth a BJ.
As for the steak, I now have a 24 year old girlfriend (I'm 42) & I could use the meat protein for energy.  I hope I don't have to take up jogging.
Which brings me to the Stag Shop gift certificate...
I told her about the prize & suggested putting it towards one of those hanging chairs.  She thinks that's a great idea.  Luckily, I haven't put a ceiling up in the basement yet.
I know you're thinking "Someone call the wah-mbulance", but come on Mike, help a brother out.

Hey Iron Mike, I'm writing to tell you about my man, and what he did.  We've been together about a year and a half, and he's been great.  We had a baby in Sept, so I've been off work, on mat benefits.  WE've just been so tight for cash, government screwed up my taxes 2 years ago, and they cut most of my cash from EI, so basically the little that I get doesn't go far.  He hasn't complained once about picking up the slack, just figures out what we need, and his whole pay goes to bills and nothing is left for him.  There's no way we can afford the steak this year, so I would love to take him to the Stag Shop and then home for the other half.... you get my drift.

Morgan Freeman Sued for Car Crash The woman injured in a car crash with Morgan Freeman last year claims he was drinking before taking the wheel. She also says they were "just friends," despite rumors that she's his mistress. According to a lawsuit filed yesterday in Mississippi, Demaris Meyer says Morgan boozed it up during their night together. Later on, Morgan supposedly invited her to stay in one of the homes on his property -- and on their way there, Morgan lost control of his car and "ran off of the right side of the highway." Meyer claims she suffered a broken left wrist and right scapula, a torn labrum in her right shoulder, and bruises and lacerations. She's suing for medical expenses and a number of other things

Sen. Charles Schumer has urged Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. to sell off its TicketsNow resale subsidiary that was at the core of an uproar over Bruce Springsteen concert tickets. Schumer, speaking Tuesday at an antitrust hearing on Tickemaster's proposed merger with leading concert promoter Live Nation Inc., accused Ticketmaster of redirecting Springsteen fans to higher priced tickets on TicketsNow, despite cheaper tickets being available on the main site. What the company has called a glitch, Schumer said was "more about moneymaking than malfunction." He noted Ticketmaster collected $7 in fees* for every Springsteen ticket sold on Ticketmaster, but $30 for every ticket sold on TicketsNow. "You, Ticketmaster, need to sell TicketsNow and make them independent of you in every way," said Schumer, D-N.Y

The Boss is back!  Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wil return to the Air Canada Centre on May 7th.  Tickets will be on sale as of Feb 6th 2009 @ noon.

 

When Bruce Springsteen agreed last month to a deal with Walmart for exclusive rights to his new greatest hits collection, it drew some fire from some corners of the singer's fan base. How could The Boss, who has become vocal about liberal political causes in recent years, get into business with a company often accused of labor- and small-business-unfriendly practices?

Springsteen now says he regrets the decision. In a New York Times interview published Sunday, Springsteen confessed that he and his band "just dropped the ball" in regards to signing off on the deal. He specifically referenced the the company's labor history, and said he couldn't disagree with fans calling them on it.

Here's what we did on the Iron Mike in the Morning Show today.   Singer and actress Eartha Kitt has died at the age 81 of colon cancer. The star, most famous for playing Catwoman in the '60s, passed away on Christmas in New York A Chelmsford Massachusetts woman and her parents are suing GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna because of a car accident last year. The auto negligence lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston stems from the April 11, 2007 three-car crash on Route 213 in Methuen, near Interstate 93. The crash happened around 7 p.m. The plaintiffs are 26-year-old Lindsay Taylor and her parents, Elaine and Jeffrey, all of Chelmsford. The Taylors blame Erna for causing the crash, but Erna says the man who drove the car Taylor rode in rear-ended someone else before Erna collided with them, court documents say. THE FIVE WORST GIFTS FOR DAD     1. Socks. Why is it so many people think Dad wants socks for Christmas? I mean, he buys them all year long when he needs 'em so why do we think that we need to buy him more when Christmas comes around? Socks show no thought on your part and that isn't a good thing when you're trying to make Dad feel special on Christmas, or any other holiday!     2. Ties. This isn't a good gift for your dad on Christmas or any other holiday, either. Seriously, how many ties does your dad really need? No originality at all in this gift. All this gift does is show that you waited until the last minute and then grabbed something for him on your way out of the store. Nice.     3. Singing stuffed animals. While you may think these are cute, they're probably bound to annoy your dad senseless. This is a no-no for Christmas, or Father's Day, or anything else. Please, if you see one of these, move right past it and on to another Christmas gift for your dad.     4. Any get-fit gadget. Let's not remind Dad that he's gained a little weight this Christmas. Save that for a later time. Let him be happy on Christmas and not be all worried about what he looks like for the rest of the day.     5. Anything that says "World's Greatest Dad." These seem cute and thoughtful, right? Wrong! These are not thoughtful for your dad. We should be thinking about what he wants on Christmas. This screams, "I waited until the last minute because I don't care that much about you -- hope you like it." If you absolutely must give him a gift like this, at least make it yourself.
