This week is Canadian Music Week in Toronto. For US in radio, its big convention at the Royal Hotel where the Radio Industry and record weasels get together and discuss the issues facing our industries. Most of the time though, we just do a lot of drinking and see a lot of bands. For some its like going back to school, for others it's a "lost weekend". For you music fans CMW offers you MUSICFEST = 700 artists, 45 stages, 5 nights for the cost of one wristband. All the info is on the link I've posted here. The tabs across the top will help you find a list of the bands you might be able to see. A couple of tips - You can't get into ALL the concerts with a wristband (eg. OLP at Massey Hall) - a wristband does NOT guarantee that you get in. Its a first come first served thing. If the club is jammed, you have to line up, just like on any other night. Club hopping is possible but make sure you get to the clubs with the band(s) you really want to see well in advance. - many venues are restricted to 19+ Check the listings. - If you're buy a ticket or wristband, arrange to pick it up at an outlet. It's too late for the mail. Once you get your wristband you have to leave it on your wrist. You'll have to sleep with it on, shower with it, go to your sister's wedding Saturday afternoon with it on. - expect nothing to run on time - work out your transportation. If you're drinking, don't drive. You've got designated drivers, cabs, the TTC, GO trains n buses, the Greyhound, VIA and as a last resort, flag Kristy down if you see her. - plan it all out. There are a ton of bands to see and they're scattered all over the place.
